tranquil maze

Society today has been packed with complexity to achieve their goals. Life is fulfilled by dramas. Things are tangled and blur.
Like a maze, life is full of confusion and darkness. One cannot simply solve a problem. There are lots of boundaries and challenges faced in life. Being in a maze full of confusion triggers one to escape from it. The journey and process from being inside the maze to getting out of it depict contrasting feelings, which are pressured and relieved.
A holiday house is situated for a family who is experiencing ‘dramas’ in life. The members are able to encounter different feelings as they travel around the house.

A proposed design for a 4-room BTO unit at Bidadari, Singapore. Inspired by both Scandinavian and Muji design styles, the project focuses on maximizing the space through the balance, proportion and neutral tones. The blend of light and warm hues from the wood-like finish will make the space brighter and airier.
The design is timeless and practical, which allows the homeowner to maximize the function of the designed space. Storage and organization will be the main keys to the design. The space mainly uses neutral tones, such as light gray and white. The light-grained wood finish dominates the space. A light-toned stone finish balances the warm-toned atmosphere in the space. White marble is also used to give a brighter and cleaner look to the space. Herringbone and subway tiles in light gray and white give a homelier feeling. It also enhances the zen-like atmosphere that is bright and airy with more natural lights embracing the space.

The integration of dark wood, cream wallpaper, silk and marble harmoniously flows within the space together with gold and bronze touches, capturing a timeless piece of art, a home.

A proposed design for a unit at South Residences Condominium, Singapore. Merging two units into one create a greater space. Inspired by the crafted oriental design style, the project showcases luxury and richness of the culture from the east. Brown marble, backlit onyx and chinoiserie fabrics are mainly used to deliver the rich and grand oriental design. Mirror with frames gives an illusion of a bigger space at the dining and living area.A hint of gold on the frames, handles and ironmongery enhances the space. A customized wine cellar is proposed in the kitchen area. Combining the master and common bedrooms of the unit allows more space for a walk-in wardrobe to showcase the client’s fashion collection. Incorporating silk fabrics and wallpapers with oriental or chinoiserie pattern within the space enhances the eastern design.

Black and gray marbles polish the space through their glossy and sleek finish. Integrating stone finish with rougher texture create a balance within the space. The mirror uses frames that have an oriental pattern. Having some antique cabinets and pottery can elevate the eastern atmosphere of the space. The gold finish is applied on the frames, handles, and ironmongery of the furniture. Fabrics, wallpaper and paintings with oriental pattern and design are required to fill the space with the eastern design style. Curved false ceiling with dark gray glossy finish at its edge will give a more polished and clean look to the space.
